Google to Enforce New OCC Guidelines for Credit Card Advertisers
Just days after the Office of the Comptroller of Currency (OCC) released new guidelines regarding advertising tied to credit card offers, Google's AdWords unit has sent out an email implying they will be closely watching all credit card advertisers.

Financial Services Advertisers:

The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency has set new guidelines regarding the type of claims and offers that credit card companies can make in their advertising.

Full text is below, but the key points for Google advertising are:

* Banks should not promote actual credit lines that are likely not approved (e.g., “Up to $10,000 credit line available” cannot be used such credit lines are rarely issued)

* Banks should not promote actual rates without any other descriptions or text explaining the conditions of the rate. Advertisers can still use rate percentages in their text, however, their landing page should give more detail on the terms of rate.
