Search marketing in the new media era.

May 19, 2006

Enterprise Search Marketing + Agile Development + AppExchange = Kieden Corporation
Kraig Swensrud, founder of Kieden, gave me an incredible education on enterprise software yesterday, and in particular schooled me on the disruptive force of enterprise software services, agile development, and the ecosystem Salesforce.com created with the Appexchange offering.

Update - SalesForce bought Kieden:

Kieden (Beta Edition) (they're leaving Beta next week)

Kraig's an alum of both Oracle and SAP, but has found his home at Kieden, where he and his 4 man crew are closing the loop between enterprise search marketing and the enterprise sales cycle using APIs from Google and Salesforce.com.

We had both anticipated a 20 minute conversation, but ended up talking for an hour and a half about his (BIG) plans for Kieden's future and, most interesting to me, how Kieden uses Agile Development - an engineering response to the Web 2.0 movement - in its software creation process.

In an upcoming article I'll write about Kieden's Agile Development approach to making money in the ecosystem that Salesforce.com has enabled with Appexchange (a fascinating development in its own right... hunker down folks, this will be another LONG article).

Kraig, formerly of Oracle sent me the following resources to help me get up to speed on Agile Development:
* Kieden Blog
oAgile Secret Sauce
o Internet Time to Feedback

* Adam Bosworth, VP Engineering, Google
o Intelligent Reaction

* Amazon.com
o Agile Project Management

* O'Reilly
o What is Web 2.0? Page 4, The End of the Release Cycle

* Others
o Scrum Process
o Paul Graham Essays (not agile per say, just influential to Kraig)
He asked me who else he should talk to. I told him to talk to the Beal, and Dowdell (watch Dowdell's interview). Anyone have thoughts on who else Kraig should talk with?
