Search marketing in the new media era.

Google Base AdWords To Drive Traffic to Individual Google Base Listings
From the Google Base blog:If you're familiar with Google AdWords, you'll be happy to know that we're now enabling you to create AdWords ads for individually posted items in Google Base, right from the Google Base edit item page.

So let me get this straight:
Give us content to index through Base.
Pay us to advertise this Base content in Google searches.

Well I guess that's not THAT different from Google's current model...

The example the Google Base Blog offers is for a band paying to advertise its upcoming cancer charity gig. (has this band heard of MySpace?)

I'm not sure on what searches this ad would show up for, but the ability to advertise your Google Base listings makes for a whole new ecosystem on Google.

And watch for Google to syndicate its Base listings before long, and make of the Base index a tool for local (and other meta web) sites to add content and provide ads to their local areas.

This is an example of monetizing value-ads rather than the submission itself, a direction that the classified market is heading in. Cool!

Watch for Barry to bust out with some demos ;) Will update when I find any.

Here's the Google Base blog post announcing the new ad product:Create ads for your items

update: thought I had a scoop...
