Search marketing in the new media era.

MySpace: "We Have No Agreement with Search Vortals"
Oops. Sorry MySpace.

That was a shoddy bit of fact checking in which I only checked with folks on one side of the story (and got mixed messages from them: on the phone it was "YES there's an agreement," and in email follow up it was: "HINT that there's an agreement - that's more than we gave any other writer" and I went with the first).

So... who at MySpace should I be contacting for future story clarifications?

Also... which search engine ARE you in an agreement with?

Here's the MySpace email:
Abuse Abuse@myspace.com to me

Hello,

The following press release is false:

http://www.searchenginelowdown.com/2006/05/search-vortals-myspace-agreement-to.html

MySpace.com has never entered into any agreement with this company. Please remove this press release as soon as possible.

Thank you,

MySpace.com

What you read is not actually a press release - it's a blog post based on an interview I conducted with the Search Vortals company.

I am in no way affiliated with that company, and beyond a single telephone interview have no contact with them or their PR agency.

I'm always willing to make corrections for accuracy and appreciate your notification.

Please connect me - AS SOON AS POSSIBLE - with a senior search tech team member at MySpace for an interview.

Thank you,
SearchEngineLowdown.com

update: Oop... I should have sent the email to Search Vortal's PR guy Steve Honig before publishing to get his side of the story. Just in case it's really MySpace who's being inaccurate.
